When you call us

If you call one of our numbers, we receive your phone number, the time of the call, and a recording of the call or of the message you leave. You hear a recording notice at the start of every call.

What we do with it

We use your request to find you help. Today we read each request ourselves, and we may pass it to a service company or a partner network that can help. They may call you about your request, and they may pay us for it. We share only what's needed to handle your request.

Text messages

Texting is separate and optional. If you sign up for freeze alerts, we text you when the National Weather Service issues a freeze warning for your area, usually a few times a winter. If you check the text box on a request form, we may text you updates and alerts. We keep your number, ZIP code, the page and proof of your consent, the texts we send you and any texts you send us, with the time and the number used. We never share or sell your mobile opt-in. Reply STOP to any text to stop all our texts, and HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply.

Changes

This notice was updated when request forms and phone lines were added, and again on Sep 25, 2026, when freeze-alert text signups were added. Earlier versions described a site without them.
